Swim or sink
linocut
I created this linocut at the end of our first semester
in stage 2 as a cover of a zine.
A response to all the challenges and feelings I had to tackle as a student – a mature student.
What stands out for me in this print is 'swim' and 'sink'.

Always work hard to avoid sinking
– regardless of profession or age.
Summer night
two-layer reduction lino
Inspired by warm Nordic summer nights
and the fragile pappus slowly dangling in the air
– like small parachutes in the night
Since I created this linocut in 2018 I've sold a few editions,
which proves to me that I'm able to reach out to others with my art. This is one of the rewards of being an artist
– when someone interprets your work in their own way and find its value.
We all interpret art differently, but I really appreciated the comment from one of the new owners of Summer night:
'Summer night brings me back to my childhood.
Me and my friend Anne, walking out in the late evenings,
picking flowers. 'When I get married', I said to Anne,
'I'll have wildflowers in my bouquet'.
15 years later Anne visited me in another part of Norway,
where I had moved to and found my boyfriend.
The evening before my wedding, Anne and I went outside
the house and picked wildflowers for my bouquet.
'Summer night' brings happy memories of friendship and love.'
